How To Activate your On-Premise Analytical SQL Database

This guide is for users of any of the WellOps platform applications from Mi4 who would like to have a copy of the cloud analytical database hosted on their local SQL server.

By default, the SQL Analytical Database we provide is hosted in Azure, but in some cases clients would prefer to have the database located on their local servers in their office, in their data center, or in their own private cloud environment.

Users of RigReports or Productioneer benefit from having direct access to a simplified data model of their transactional database that makes creating their own analytics easier.

Pre-requisites: In order to implement this guide, you need to have a local Windows machine on which you have permission to install the Integration Runtime, as well as a SQL Server with a blank database. The machine on which the IR needs to be installed can be the same machine hosting the SQL Server or another machine within the same network.

The activation of the on-prem DB takes only 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Create a New SQL Database on the On-Premise SQL Server

Create a Database in SQL Server Management Studio

This database is where we will push the data from our platform.

Once the new database in place, you’re now ready to proceed to the next crucial step. For detailed instructions on how to create a new database, refer to this Microsoft guide or one of our engineers can assist you with this step.

Step 2: Download and Install the Azure Self-Hosted Integration Runtime

The Azure Self-Hosted Integration Runtime securely bridges the gap between your on-premise SQL environment and our environment in Azure Cloud.

Download the Integration Runtime from Microsoft’s page: Self Hosted Integration Runtime and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Step 3: Enter the Security Key we sent you into the Integration Runtime and Register It

With the integration runtime securely configured and registered, your on-premise SQL database is now seamlessly connected to our Cloud environment in Azure, ready to unlock the full potential of your data analytics.

This feature empowers businesses to leverage the power of on-premise analytical SQL databases effectively. By following these simple steps, you can streamline data integration, maximize insights, and drive informed decision-making.
